Plainview real estate is still going strong here at the start of November 2021. A look at the most recent numbers shows that the median sales price of homes in Plainview was up year on year, as was the sale-to-list price and the total number of homes that sold. Plainview homes sold for a median price of $747,500 this past September, an increase of 13.9% year on year, according to Redfin. Five years ago, the average median price was $520,000. In the half decade since, the average median price has dipped to a low of $482,800 (in April 2017) but it has not dipped below $642,750 since March 2020.

Among all the homes that sold in September 2021, the sale-to-list price of 100.4%% showed an increase of 5% over 2020. This is the third highest such number during the prior five-years, following the 102.9% and the 101.6% we saw, respectively, in July and August of this year.
The average home in Plainview stayed on the market for 23 days, a 76% drop from the 96-day average we saw last September. As with the sale-to-list price, the only months this number has been lower since 2016 are July 2021, at 17 days, and August 2021, at 21 days. In February 2017, the average days on market was 110 days, the highest number at any time in the past five years.
More homes were sold in Plainview year on year as well—42 homes sold in September 2021, an increase of 50% from the same period of time last year—while the number of homes showing a drop in price fell 12.3% year on year.
According to Neighborhood Scout, the five highest appreciating Plainview neighborhoods since the year 2000 have been Town Center, Old Country Road/Farmers Avenue, South Oyster Bay Road/Jamaica Avenue, Cherry Court/Floral Drive E. and Old Country Road/Plainview Road.
