Immediately following the tragedies of 9/11 20 years ago, many Long Islanders sought to assist families and individuals who were experiencing unimaginable pain, grief and loss. A plethora of local charities were created shortly after to offer help and support, dedicating time and resources to help keep the memory and spirit of the victims of 9/11, and those lost to 9/11-related injuries, alive while also supporting those who continue to deal with effects of the tragedy.
